Our Legacy

In the mid-1980s, Eddie and Mark Vannoy of Vannoy Construction in Jefferson, NC, were building townhomes for Banner Elk River Club and thought, “Why not build our own golf course?” Avid golfers themselves and part of a respected, multi-generational family business known for quality, vision and honest business practices, the Vannoys acquired land and in fall 1988, began developing a budding Jefferson Landing. To challenge every golfer, they sought professional golfer and PGA Hall of Famer, Larry Nelson, to fine-tune the layout. The course opened in spring 1991 to an enthusiastic welcome.

Since then, Jefferson Landing has burgeoned with esteemed real estate opportunities, an outdoor pool, fitness center, and a clubhouse with fine dining—all leading to a tight-knit resort community and sought-after event location. In 2017, the Vannoy brothers launched a multi-million-dollar property renovation including a $2 million update to the clubhouse, lodge and condominiums, as well as more than $3.5 million in golf course upgrades led by lauded renovator, Kris Spence. With these changes, the course has quickly earned award-winning acclaim and placement among North Carolina’s top golf venues. Mark and Eddie continue to play an active daily role in the property’s success and look forward to the grand opening of a new par 3 course in 2020.
